The Mixstory Studio DJ Monitor Speakers are a bi-amplified stereo pair designed for the DJ and producer who monitors their mixes in a home studio or dedicated practice room and demands the accurate, flat frequency response that reveals the true sonic character of a mix rather than flattering it with the elevated bass and scooped midrange of consumer speakers. Mix decisions made on an accurate monitoring system translate reliably to playback on club systems, streaming services, and headphones — decisions made on flattering consumer speakers consistently result in mixes that sound over-bassed or harsh on accurate systems. Mixstory’s 6.5-inch woofer and 1-inch silk-dome tweeter are driven by independent power amplifier stages — 80W for the woofer and 40W for the tweeter — a bi-amplified architecture that eliminates the power-sharing compromise of passive crossover designs and delivers the reserved headroom that accurate monitoring at moderate levels requires. The front-firing bass reflex port is tuned to 65 Hz, extending the low-frequency response of the 6.5-inch woofer below the typical rolloff point of a sealed or rear-ported cabinet of similar size — providing the bass extension that accurate kick drum and bass line monitoring demands without requiring the room placement distance that rear-ported designs need to avoid bass reinforcement from the wall behind the speaker. Mixstory’s active crossover splits the signal at 2.8 kHz with 24 dB per octave slopes, a steeper crossover slope than passive networks typically achieve, resulting in cleaner integration between woofer and tweeter across the crossover region where phase and off-axis response are most challenging to manage. Balanced XLR and unbalanced TRS input options accept professional line-level signal from any mixer or audio interface. Acoustic isolation feet provide a viscoelastic decoupling layer between the speaker cabinet and the desk or stand surface that reduces desk resonance contribution to the monitor’s low-frequency output. Dimensions per speaker: 200mm × 260mm × 270mm. Weight per speaker: 7.2 kg.
