The Mixstory Grid Ableton Live Drum Machine Controller is a hardware step sequencer and pad controller designed for the producer and live performer who programs drum patterns and rhythmic sequences and wants to perform them live from dedicated hardware rather than from a mouse and trackpad in a laptop software session. The Grid combines a 16-pad velocity-sensitive trigger surface for real-time drum performance with an 8-row × 16-step sequencer display that shows the complete pattern state of all eight percussion channels simultaneously, providing the visual clarity of pattern editing that software displays deliver but in a physical form that is immediately operational without screen focus. Sixteen velocity-sensitive pads in a 4×4 grid cover the standard drum kit assignment — kick, snare, closed hat, open hat, clap, shaker, tom, and percussion — plus eight additional assignable slots for melodic percussion or sample triggers. Each pad responds to the velocity of the hit, allowing dynamic variation in the drum performance that step sequencers without velocity input cannot produce. The 8-row sequencer display illuminates each active step with colored LEDs that indicate both step position and velocity — the brightness of the illuminated step indicates the programmed velocity of that step in the sequence, providing at-a-glance visual editing capability that allows pattern adjustment without interrupting playback. Swing control with a 0 to 100 percent adjustable swing percentage delays the off-beat steps in the sequence progressively relative to the on-beats, producing the rhythmic groove feel that distinguishes live-feeling electronic drum patterns from mechanically quantized ones. 64-step sequence memory across 16 pattern slots allows a complete set of patterns to be stored in the Grid’s internal memory for live performance. The MIDI output sends pattern data to external hardware synthesizers and drum machines. USB bus power with Ableton Live integration. Dimensions: 320mm × 240mm × 30mm. Weight: 0.95 kg.
