The absence of power conditioning in a DJ rack is an invisible but consistent source of audio quality degradation: the buzz and hum that appears in the output signal when a DI box or cable is connected to a venue’s power system, the digital noise that switching power supplies in CDJ players inject into audio ground paths, and the transient voltage spikes from other venue equipment sharing the same circuit that can permanently damage sensitive audio electronics. Mixstory’s EMI/RFI filtration network — built around a toroidal common-mode filter choke with differential-mode capacitors — reduces conducted interference on the incoming mains to below 25 dB above 100 kHz, eliminating the majority of the interference that audio electronics translate into audible noise. The surge protection circuit provides 2000 joule absorption capacity with a 6500-ampere clamping current — far above the specification of standard consumer power strips — protecting connected equipment from the transient voltage events that lightning-related surges and power restoration after outages produce. Nine filtered AC outlets — four on the rear panel and five on the front panel for temporary equipment connections — provide the outlet count that a fully loaded DJ rack requires without extension cord addition.
