The magnetic Hall effect sensing mechanism detects fader position without any physical contact between the sensing element and the fader shaft, meaning there is no resistive track to wear through, no carbon contact material to deposit in the fader channel, and no crackle or signal dropout to develop with use. The Slider maintains the same response characteristics on day one and day ten thousand of operation without any cleaning or replacement maintenance. The contour adjustment potentiometer on the rear of the Slider module changes the mathematical curve of the fader’s input-to-output transfer function — at one extreme, a single millimeter of throw produces a hard cut from full signal to silence (ideal for transformer and flare scratch techniques); at the other extreme, the curve is linear across the full 45mm throw (ideal for smooth genre transitions and blending mixes). Zero-cut lag — the time between the fader reaching the cut threshold and the signal being fully attenuated in the circuit — is specified at under 0.5 milliseconds, below the detection threshold of any audio analysis method and functionally instantaneous for performance purposes.
