The Mixstory Pulse DJ Lighting Controller gives the DJ and small-venue lighting operator professional DMX512 lighting control in a compact, affordable controller that operates both as a standalone hardware unit and as a MIDI-mapped control surface for computer-based lighting software. The Pulse is designed for the DJ who recognizes that lighting is as important to a performance as audio and who wants integrated control of both domains from the performance position without requiring a separate lighting technician. DMX512 output at 192 channels — covering 12 fixtures at 16 channels each, or 24 fixtures at 8 channels each, or any combination within the channel budget — is more than sufficient for the typical small-club and mobile DJ lighting rigs that this controller targets. Mixstory’s BPM-sync trigger system reads audio input from either the onboard microphone or a direct line input from the DJ mixer and calculates the current BPM in real time, using this tempo information to synchronize lighting scene changes, strobe patterns, and chase sequences to the beat of the music without manual trigger timing. This BPM-sync function delivers the tight audio-visual correlation that experienced dancers and clubbers expect from professional lighting production, without requiring manual beat-tracking from the operator. Twenty scene memory slots allow complete lighting states — including all 192 DMX channel values — to be saved and recalled instantly during performance without interrupting the current output. The MIDI input accepts channel messages from a connected DJ controller or keyboard, allowing lighting scenes and effects to be mapped to physical pads, buttons, or faders on the DJ’s existing hardware. A USB connection to a Windows or Mac computer allows the Pulse to operate as a MIDI control surface for lighting software packages including Sunlite and DMX4ALL. Standalone operation requires no computer or power supply beyond the included 12V adapter. Dimensions: 380mm × 210mm × 55mm. Weight: 1.8 kg.
