The Mixstory Vision DJ Video Controller is a hardware control surface for the DJ-VJ performer who combines audio and visual performance — controlling music mixing and video manipulation simultaneously from a single physical interface that serves both disciplines without requiring the DJ to alternate between keyboard shortcuts and mouse operation during a live set. The Vision is designed for use with Resolume Avenue — the industry-standard VJ software used in professional visual performance contexts — with a comprehensive default mapping that assigns all primary visual functions to the Vision’s controls without any manual MIDI mapping configuration. Two-deck VJ control provides independent video clip selection, opacity, effect depth, and layer blend mode control for each video layer, with a crossfader that mixes between the two visual output layers in the same way a DJ crossfader mixes between audio channels. The BPM-sync engine reads the master tempo from Resolume’s internal clock or from a MIDI clock input, and synchronizes video effect parameters — strobe rate, rotation speed, kaleidoscope cycle rate — to the beat of the music. This audio-visual synchronization is the primary technical achievement that separates VJ performance from video playback — the visual content responds to the music in real time, creating the integrated sensory experience that defines professional AV performance. Sixteen clip trigger pads provide direct access to the first 16 clip slots in the current row of each video deck, allowing rapid sequential progression through the visual set without keyboard navigation. The HDMI output from the Vision — separate from the host computer’s video output — can drive a dedicated preview monitor at the DJ position, showing a low-latency preview of the video output that the audience sees.
