The Wave’s 4-in/4-out configuration — four independent stereo channels rather than a single stereo pair — enables the simultaneous routing of DJ software’s master output, cue output, recording return, and external device input through a single USB connection, making it the appropriate interface for multi-output DJ software deployments where each output serves a different destination. Mixstory’s ASIO drivers for Windows and Core Audio drivers for macOS achieve a round-trip latency of 4.2 milliseconds at 256-sample buffer size — low enough for the real-time beat matching and visual waveform alignment that DJ software use requires without the stuttering and dropout that higher buffer sizes prevent.
